Ceramics Workshop

I attended a ceramics workshop where I was given a tour of the ceramics department and shown previous students ceramic pieces. An enjoyable afternoon, I went back later to experiment with the clay.

I decided to try and create a piece, representative of my project, through the use of lateral thinking.

As I have already established colours, I decided to create some different textures, with reference again to the photographs. In the photos of the country, there were very little smooth surfaces, what with all the areas being rough(such as tree bark) or full and luscious(such as the leaves and greenery). On the other hand, the city photographs had many steel bars and flat pavements, and so had many smooth surfaces. Therefore I wanted to create a piece in which one aspect of it was black and smooth and the other, green and rough.
